From All Music:

A quartet formed in Columbus, Georgia, USA, in 1991, East Orange comprise Chad Etchison (guitar, vocals), Mark Skinner (guitar), John Skinner (drums) and Alex Johnston (bass). The Skinner brothers and Johnston had previously played together in several unrecorded bands. In 1993 the group relocated to a rented house in Atlanta, after their youngest member had graduated. East Orange made their debut in 1994 with the Navigation Without Numbers EP. This received widespread local airplay and earned comparisons to both the Replacements and Elvis Costello. Showcases in Nashville and Memphis followed in 1995, at which time the group’s melodic pop demos earned them columns in mainstream magazines such as Billboard and Hum.
